Southern Miss LB Gerald McRath will forgo his senior season in college and enter the 2009 NFL Draft.

At middle linebacker in the Golden Eagles' 4-3 defense, McRath led the team with 137 tackles as a junior. The next closest on the team had only 84. McRath also chipped in 1.5 sacks, two forced fumbles, and 9.5 tackles for loss. However, at just 6'3/220 McRath will probably not stay inside in the pros. He will need to run well at the Combine to be a high draft pick.

Next Level Scouting Inc. reports that Texas Tech red-shirt sophomore WR Michael Crabtree has informed several staff members of his intention to enter the NFL Draft.

He is expected to hold an on-campus press conference this week, but he has already started preparations for the announcement. Crabtree is a lock to be a Top-5 pick as the best receiver available this year.

We'll wait for Crabtree's press conference to be certain.

Hakeem Nicks, WR, North Carolina is leaving.
University of North Carolina Tar Heels Official Athletic Site
No one helped their draft stock more in the bowls than Nicks. I think he's a first round pick.

Eric Norwood, OLB/DE, South Carolina has changed his mind and will return to school.

Right decision. I like Norwood, but he can only better his stock with another solid season.

James Casey, TE, Rice is leaving.
Rice sophomore Casey to enter NFL draft | Top stories | Chron.com - Houston Chronicle
Casey is only a redshirt sophomore, but is 24 because he spent a couple years playing baseball. He's incredibly athletic and versatile and a real dark horse in this class. He came out because of his age, but don't be shocked if he's a second round pick. He'll win a lot of you over with his combine.

LeSean McCoy, RB, Pitt is staying.
http://blog.pennlive.com/patriotnews...stay_at_p.html
This is a big win for Pitt. McCoy is a first round pick this season. He's a home run threat every time he touches the ball. This definitely increases the worth of recent entries Donald Brown and Shonn Greene.

Jerraud Powers, CB, Auburn is leaving.

Why? I don't know. He's a mid-round pick. Must be tired of school. I do understand that feeling. Who knows? Maybe he'll test well and climb the boards a bit.

It's time for the declarations to really pick up with the final week of being able to do so hitting.

Two big names declared this morning.

Matt Stafford, QB, Georgia and Knowshon Moreno, RB, Georgia are leaving.
Georgia Bulldogs' Matthew Stafford, Knowshon Moreno expected to go for NFL draft - ESPN
I'm not a huge Stafford fan, but he'll probably be a Top 10 pick and maybe even No. 1 overall.

I love Moreno. He's definitely the No. 1 back on my list particularly with LeSean McCoy going back to Pitt. Wells dropped in my mind because he's just constantly hurt. Leaving the Texas game early was an indication of that. Beanie's nickname should be changed. There's a picture of him in the dictionary next to a word starting with P.

Moreno, on the other hand, runs with a lot of heart and skill. He's uber athletic.

George Selvie, DE, USF is staying.
Standout DE Selvie Will Return To USF
This is the right decision. Apparently, he didn't get a good projection from the NFL Draft Advisory Board. Several draftniks ranked Selvie as a first round pick, but I never saw him as such. I liked several DEs and tweeners more than him. I could have seen him falling into the third round easily. He just took a major step back, partly because of an ankle sprain. A lot of people thought he might have been a one-year wonder heading into the season.

He should be a top 10 pick.
