Default Team needs

The draft is usually done based on two methods. teams either use the BPA (best player available) method to select, or they select based on need. Since we are tlaking about the draft here, Why not start a thread to talk about and discuss team needs. We might have done it in the past but I don't remember, but I think it should be stickied. We can go through it after the season is over, almost like we do with the forum mock drafts. Meaning we do each team one by one and make our arguments for what that team needs the most in the draft. It should help people make mocks.

so to start, I'll put what I've come up, after a little bit of examination, of what the needs of each team are. Not they they are totally accurate to everyone, but just to start some discussion. (note, by OL, i mean interior line - C,G,G. I say OT for both, or LT for left tackle, RT for right. NT and DT r also different)

Lions – QB, LT, CB, DE, OLB
Raiders – LT, WR, DE, OL, OLB
Bengals – S, ILB, RB, DE, OT
Chiefs – DE, WR, QB, OL, ILB
Rams – CB, LT, S, QB
49ers – QB, WR, RT, OLB
Seahawks – OT, FS, OLB, CB
Browns – NT, CB, RB, OLB, FS
Texans – S, OLB, DE, C
Jaguars – ILB, OLB, DT, SS
Saints – CB, RT, OL, OLB
Bills – OT, FS, OLB, TE
Bears – WR, OG, CB, OLB
Lions – QB, LT, CB, DE, OLB
Ravens – WR, CB, NT
Chargers – RT, DE, ILB
Patriots – S, CB, LB
Eagles – OLB, S, OL, RB
Falcons – ILB, OL, RT, SS
Vikings – QB, DE, RT, ILB
Dolphins – CB, OLB, S, DE
Colts – DT, OLB, OL, CB
Jets – SS, RB, DE, CB
Packers – OLB, CB, TE, DE
Redskins – DE, DT, SS, RT
Cardinals – ILB, OLB, C
Bucs – LT, DE, DT
Broncos – ILB, OL, RT, S
Eagles - OLB, S, OL
Steelers – OG, FS, OT
Titans – ILB, DE, OG, WR
Giants – OLB, CB, DT
Cowboys – DE, ILB, OL
Panthers – DT, TE, WR, QB

Well for the Jets if you are going by the 2009 draft needs then I wouldnt put RB as the number 2 spot. I could see the argument for SS and I think another DE and CB would be a good fit as well. Personally in the first round I would go QB if one were to be available that warrants that high of a pick.

If not then I would probably go either SS or CB. The Jets are high on Lowery though so I think Safety or QB would be the way the Jets go. Don't rule out DE either though.

I dont think they really need another RB. They have Thomas Jones who at 30 is starting to get up there in age but A. He was a backup RB for a long time so he has not suffered the wear and tear a normal 30 year old back has and B. Even if he did you would think he would still have 2 good years left in him.

Then you throw in the fact that they have Leon Washington as the backup and I dont see where they could fit another back into their gameplan. I like the current system they have right now with these two guys. I wouldnt look to add another for it least another year.

didnt mean to order them from most needed to least needed, they're all just needs in general, no order... You're argument is a good one. I have it up there because Jones is 30, and RB depth is very important in this league. Look at the giants with jacobs ward and bradshaw.

Vikings needs: QB!! QB!!! QB!!!!!!

lol seriously though, QB, CB, RT, WR

ILB is far from a need of the Vikings. EJ Henderson is one of the best and most underrated in the game.

Heres where i stand on that, as a Packer fan I would be jumping for joy if the vikings drafted Tim Tebow to play QB for them LOL, hes just another Alex Smith type coming out of that Urban Meyer system, he is not an NFL QB.

As for the Packers, it is eveident after last night, that they need D-Line help, if Cullen Jenkins can come back as strong as he was b4 next year, it lessens that need but they need a run stopper to go along with Pickett and someone who can rush the passer opposite Kampman

ding ding ding!! I'd hate Tim Tebow.

Honestly I don't expect him to go round 1 anyway. I think he's this year's Troy Smith/Andre Woodson. Players expected to be drafted high based off college success that doesn't quite translate into the NFL. I expect him to drop probably as low as the 3rd round.

Sam Bradford or Matt Stafford on the other hand......
