Default If Detroit moves down...

I see two different trade possiblities for the big blue cats. Either take a #2 from the Bucs and slide down to #4 or take a #2 and probably a #3 this year or next from the Falcons and drop down to #8. I like the second situation better if they want a defensive player like Landry or Willis but the trade with the Bucs would land them a high #2 and probably put them in a position to get Brady Quinn. What do you all think?

Actually there are two trade possibilities that are being thrown out there with the Buccs...

A) 4th pick and Simeon Rice for the 2nd pick

B) 4th pick, 35th pick, and Brian Kelly for the 2nd pick

There haven't been any actual trade rumors for the Falcons other than to say they're interested.

I actually like the first scenario because it would still be possible for them to get Joe Thomas and have 2 high 2nd round picks to get maybe Trent Edwards or Drew Stanton and a good DB. No matter how you put it they are in a great situation. This could be the springboard to finally get that franchise out of the gutter

you would think so at least

The Bucs are waiting to see what the Raiders do. If they don't take Johnson then Tampa will probably make a big push to get the pick. If they do then the Lions are stuck.

Chris Mortensen and Todd McShay are both reporting that the Raiders aren't even in contract negotiations with any player. They have contacted the agents for Russell, Johnson and Quinn, but haven't started any sort of negotiations. This is strange considering how the teams with the 1st pick have acted in the past. McShay doesn't think there will be a deal reached with any of them before the draft either. He says that Al Davis is going to sit on his pick for 15 minutes, wait for a deal to come in...if it doesn't then he'll draft Russell. He says Davis doesn't even take into consideration what his scouts think. His mind is made up about who he is going to pick when he walks into the draft room and that's that. Davis has done a lot for the NFL over his tenure, but the guy is just senile now. The Raiders won't ever dig out of this hole they're in until Al decides to die. Not that JaMarcus Russell is a bad pick. It's just that Davis doesn't seem to understand the new era of the NFL.

I LOVE option B... It takes care of our CB need and still gives us some ammo in the 2nd to either grab 2 solid players in the 2nd or deal up into the 20 range and grab someone who is falling...

There has been a trade rumor with the Falcons... Drew Sharp reported on one of the major radio stations here in Detroit that Atlanta is "very interested" in trading up for Calvin Johnson and giving up both of thier 2nd rd picks this year and a either this year or next year's 3rd rd pick... He cited "a source close to the Falcon's organization" that he made a call to...

I also heard that and I think that would be the best option for Detroit. If Laron falls to them at eight that would be the best option and then you have three second round picks.

I love Landry but I don't think he would be available then... I REALLY want Jamaal Anderson... Finally, I am starting to hear people compare him favorably to Adams... We need a big time pass rusher.... I think that if we get that and a MLB like Harris we'll be in better shape... Maybe, we can land a Meriweather in the 2nd as well...

No matter what deal detroit does it has to include at least one 2nd round pick. As far as them being stuck if Oakland picks Johnson i dont think so becuase if that's the case Detroit can take Russell is they want him or still take Adams or someone else. A trade will happen just with who is still up in the air.
