1. Indianapolis Colts (7-0)
Last Week – 1
It wasn’t pretty and was downright scary at times, but they got the job done. I think that the fact that this week’s game was so close was more a testament to the 49ers strength rather than the Colts’ weakness. Still, this Colts team is clearly the best in the league.
2. New Orleans Saints (7-0)
Last Week – 2
Hot on the Colts’ heals is the Saints. If I were to gauge the league on sheer confidence, this Saints team would be #1, hands down. Despite the game never being a blowout on Monday night against the Falcons, you never EVER got the feeling that they were going to lose the game.
3. Minnesota Vikings (7-1)
Last Week – 4
I have to hand it to Favre for playing exceptional this week against the Packers. He was confident, he made good decisions and the Vikings defense put real pressure on Aaron Rodgers. Jared Allen, not Brett Favre, gets my vote for the best off-season acquisition by the Vikings this year.
4. Philadelphia Eagles (5-2)
Last Week – 11
Yes, they caught the Giants on the downward spiral this week, but a 23 point victory? This Philly team is playing at a very high level right now and are now in control of the NFC East. McNabb is very confident and Desean Jackson’s returns are making a huge difference. This week’s matchup against the Cowboys is suddenly the hottest ticket of the week.
5. New England Patriots (5-2)
Last Week – 5
No play, no change!
6. Dallas Cowboys (5-2)
Last Week – 10
It’s hard to believe that this Cowboy team will be playing for supremacy of the NFC East this week against the Eagles, but here we are. FYI…if Miles Austin is still available as a free agent in your fantasy league, you need to switch fantasy leagues.
7. Cincinnati Bengals (5-2)
Last Week – 7
No play, no change!
8. Pittsburgh Steelers (5-2)
Last Week – 8
No play, no change!
9. Baltimore Ravens (4-3)
Last Week – 13
Looks like the bye week did wonders for the Ravens as this week they smacked the undefeated Broncos in the mouth. This game was never in doubt because the Ravens decided they were going to return to their root – hitting hard and laying people out. Kyle Orton never knew what hit him. The Bronco offense just never got going.
10. Denver Broncos (6-1)
Last Week – 3
Finally, justification. This team isn’t as tough as it looks. The physicality of the Ravens really took the broncos out of their game. This week doesn’t get any easier as the Steelers come to Denver. If the Broncos win this game, I will be shocked.
11. NY Giants (5-3)
Last Week – 6
Three game losing streaks just don’t happen for no reason – something’s going on with the Giants. Manning is making poor decisions, the defense can’t stop the run, and Brandon Jacobs STILL isn’t breaking tackles. Not good times for the Giants.
12. Atlanta Falcons (4-3)
Last Week – 9
The Falcons looked good this Monday against the Saints and had they played any other team, they might have won. They did have 4 turnovers which is never a good things especially when you are playing an undefeated team. Despite their 4-3 record, I still believe that this team is one of the more dangerous in the league, they just happened to have a killer schedule.
13. Houston Texans (5-3)
Last Week – 16
The Texans are finally rolling. This week’s game against the Colts will be a pretty good test of how good they really are. If Matt Schuab can’t perform in a key division matchup, I just don’t know what to tell you. Steve Slaton’s mysterious benching is quite peculiar, but I imagine this will blow over.
14. San Diego Chargers (4-3)
Last Week – 17
Yeah, you beat the Oakland Raiders to get you rover .500. I wouldn’t exactly start making plans for the post-season just yet. If you can handle the Giants in NY this week, then you can call me.
15. Arizona Cardinals (4-3)
Last Week – 12
There really is only one reason why the Cards lost this week’s game against the horrid Panthers – 5 Kurt Warner INTs. Done and done.
16. Miami Dolphins (3-4)
Last Week -19
Suddenly and without warning, the horrible Dolphins team is 3-4 and rising fast. Chad Henne isn’t Tom Brady but he’s doing all the right things and giving the Dolphins a chance to win every week. This week, it sure helped that they played the slumping Jets, but who’s counting?
17. Green Bay Packers (4-3)
Last Week – 14
Did anyone realize that Aaron Rodgers is the most prolific QB in the league? He’s tops in rating and completion percentage and has an astounding 14 TDs vs. 2 INTS. Even more amazing, he’s been sacked 31 times, and the season’s only half over. He might just be the best dead QB in the history of the NFL.
18. Chicago Bears (4-3)
Last Week – 21
Playing the Browns after getting murdered by the Bengals in week 7 is the perfect cure for a hangover and the Bears bounced back nicely. Matt Forte has finally made a significant impact. Granted, it took a game against the worst in the league, but it is what it is.
19. NY Jets (4-4)
Last Week – 15
Anyone who thought that this was the season of the Jets four weeks ago is feeling pretty sad right now. What happened to these guys? They were white hot in the first four weeks of the season and now they can’t even beat Miami.
20. Carolina Panthers (3-4)
Last Week – 24
Yeah they’re 3-4, but is anyone really afraid of this team? Me neither…let’s move on.
21. San Francisco 49er (3-4)
Last Week – 20
You have to hand it to the 49ers for hanging with the Colts until the bitter end. This team is much better than their 3-4 record. Michael Crabtree was impressive this week and could be the next Jerry Rice in San Fran. I like this team and am excited to see what else Alex Smith can do.
22. Jacksonville Jaguars (3-4)
Last Week – 18
When Jones-drew rushes for 177 yards on 8 carries and you still lose, you are doing something wrong.
23. Buffalo Bills (3-5)
Last Week – 22
Seriously, this team is lousy and really should move to Toronto. Jim Kelly is rolling over in his grave.
24. Tennessee Titans (1-6)
Last Week – 29
If I were Vince Young I would think about playing in a too-too this week, just to spite Jeff Fisher for not believing in him.
25. Seattle Seahawks (2-5)
Last Week – 23
Not only are they banged up, but they are pretty terrible to boot. The Seahawks are officially in a rebuilding period. Look for them to spend an early draft pick on a QB.
26. Oakland Raiders (2-6)
Last Week – 25
It says a lot about a team when they can rally around their coach in the midst of a wife-beating scandal. Wait, not one person is behind Tom Cable. Holy crap, this will not end well.
27. Washington Redskins (2-5)
Last Week – 27
No play, no change!
28. St. Louis Rams (1-7)
Last Week – 32
Is it just me or is it a huge slap in the face to the St. Louis owner when they give the head coach a Gatorade shower when they get their first win in week 8?
29. Kansas City Chiefs (1-6)
Last Week – 28
No play, no change!
30. Detroit Lions (1-6)
Last Week – 26
If there was a game they were going to win this season, it was this week against the Rams. Now, they have nothing to look forward to.
31. Cleveland Browns (1-6)
Last Week – 30
Reportedly Eric Mangini is sad that his GM was fired this week. Hey Eric, now you know how the entire city of Cleveland feels now that you’ve destroyed their team.
32. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (0-7)
Last Week – 31
They didn’t play this week, but they truly are the worst of the worst.
