Ryan (Milwaukee, WI)
Who I start at each option: Tim Hightower or Lee Evans and Pierre Thomas or Justin Fargas?
The Jungle
Evans should have one of his better outings of the season against Houston this week. The Texans have done a nice job against the run the last few games and Buffalo will be forced to go to the air to keep pace with one of the best offenses going right now. Meanwhile, Hightower is going to lose touches to Chris Wells which hurts his value. Evans should be a solid No. 3 or even No. 2 receiver in week eight.
Thomas is always going to be risky because Sean Payton could choose to go with the hot hand, which could be Mike Bell, but his matchup against the Falcons is favorable. I think that game is going to be a fantasy juggernaut due to a lot of scoring and Thomas should see plenty of action. Start him over Fargas. I simply don't trust any Raider not named Zach Miller.
Dave (Columbus, OH)
I have LaDainian Tomlinson, Ronnie Brown, and Chris Wells. A team in our league just dropped Brian Westbrook. Do you think it's wise to drop Wells for Westbrook?
The Jungle
I think it's something to monitor. Westbrook has been a huge fantasy disappointment, but you could argue it's the injuries that's holding him back. If he can get healthy, I think he's worth taking a chance on over Wells. I wouldn't make the move until the Eagles are fully confident that he's healthy and ready to play. That probably won't be this week.
Matt (Riverside, CA)
Which three receivers should I start in week eight: Greg Jennings, Steve Breaston, Austin Collie, or Brandon Marshall?
The Jungle
I know there is a lot of fantasy backlash on Jennings right now, but he's simply too good not to bust out of this slump. The Packers have one of the best passing offenses in the NFC and Jennings is still their most talented receiver. It's just a matter of time until he goes on a touchdown binge. I'd stick with him the next two weeks as Green Bay gets Minnesota and Tampa Bay.
The Ravens will load up to stop the run against the Broncos and you know Marshall is going to have to make a play. I think he will, get him in your lineup. It's really a toss up between Breaston and Collie. With Boldin hampered with an ankle injury, Breaston should see more opportunities to contribute. I'd lean towards starting him as my No. 3 receiver.
Steven Ieola (Staten Island, New York)
Who do I go with for my week eight flex position: Ryan Grant vs. Minnesota or Tim Hightower vs. Carolina?
The Jungle
Grant has quietly done a decent job from a fantasy standpoint the last three games. Against Minnesota the first time around, he totaled over 100 yards. He followed that up with another 100 total yard performance against Detroit and he finally busted out against Cleveland. I'm not crazy about Grant this week, but I think he has more upside than Hightower. Green Bay is going to have to run the ball more this time around to keep the Vikings' pass rush from teeing off on Aaron Rodgers again.
Tony (Houston, TX)
I have Steven Jackson, Kevin Smith and Ricky Williams. Which two should I start for week eight?
The Jungle
I like Jackson up against a Lions' defense that ranks 20th against the rush. I think he'll have a big game. He's a top ten fantasy back this week. The other side isn't bad either. The Rams rank 27th against the rush and Detroit will likely look to run the ball with Matthew Stafford and Calvin Johnson not at 100%.
Rusty (Duluth, MN)
Should I trade Thomas Jones for Mike Sims-Walker? I have Chris Johnson, Ray Rice and Donald Brown at runningback and I have Larry Fitzgerald, Greg Jennings, and Santana Moss at receiver.
The Jungle
As I answered in a different question, I believe Jennings is going to get going eventually. I think it'll be sooner rather than later. He's been way to consistent the past two years not too.
I wouldn't make the trade regardless though. Jones appears to be heading to the Pro Bow and the Jets will undoubtedly rely on him the rest of the season.
Nic (Buffalo, NY)
I have a good dilemma but I need an answer. I start two DST. I have Miami vs. Jets, Baltimore vs. Broncos, New Orleans vs. Atlanta, and Atlanta vs. New Orleans. Which two should I start?
The Jungle
I think Monday night will be a shootout, so I'd go with Miami and Baltimore. As Mike Tomlin would put it, those games will probably be more violent which is better for the defenses. Matt Ryan is 11-3 in doors, so his success inside could translate into some success for the Falcons and you know the Saints' offense will show up. |
