If I need to sell you on Tom Brady at this point, then you haven’t been watching enough football over the past 6-years. He’s great, he wins games, he has stud receivers and plays for one of the smartest coaches in the NFL. Oh, you want downside? How about a shaky offensive line that allowed 47 sacks on Matt Cassel last season? Compounding that, Brady’s knee, while surely healed has yet to be football tested. I remember in 2007 when Carson Palmer returned from his devastating knee surgery and he just didn’t seem comfortable in the pocket for most of the season. The Bengals are no Patriots but I think the mental part of Brady’s return will take much longer than the physical part. This especially disconcerting when you consider the O-line ply of the Pats last season.
If he’s healthy, even with a crappy offensive line, Brady is the #1 guy in football – hands down. With the knee injury looming, it’s probably best to wait and see.
