Our Take on Shaun Hill

When Shaun took over the reigns for the 49ers in week 8 last season, the 49ers were 2-5. When the season ended, Hill led the 49ers to a 7-9 record going 5-4 as the starter. Not too shabby if you ask me. Is he the answer in the Bay area? That remains to be seen. The only thing we know for sure is that he’s going to get another chance to prove himself this season. In half a season, Hill threw for over 2,000 yards and 13 TDs with a rating of 87.5. Oh, did I mention he’s gets to throw bombs to Michael Crabtree this season? I didn’t!?!?! That sure doesn’t sound like me.
In any event, Hill ranks relatively low due to his lack of experience but with players such as Frank Gore, Vernon Davis, Isaac Bruce, Michael Crabtree, and Arnaz Battle; as long as he doesn’t have a Derek Anderson-esque drop-off, Hill has a chance to be the sleeper QB of the season. That’s a stretch, but the possibility is there.
