Our Take on Jason Campbell
by Skipster McNernie |
I would be remiss if I didn’t say that Jason Campbell is improving – technically, this is true. However, from a practical standpoint, I think it’s safe to say that the Jason Campbell Experiment (JCE) is a failure. Unless the Redskins pull off a trade between now and training camp, Jim Zorn will be feeding us with another healthy dose of Campbell’s soup (Get it?) - I just don’t see Colt Brennan or Chase Daniels competing for the starting position.
Jason did have his most successful season as a professional last season with 3,200 yards and 13 TDs and a 63% completion percentage. However, when you are in the same division with the Cowboys, Giants and Eagles, 13 TDs ain’t cutting the mustard. Despite 2 seasons of shopping, the Skins haven’t been able to bring a marquee WR to the nation’s capital. This means that Campbell has same ‘ol Santana Moss and Antwaan Randle El to kick around. Translation = Don’t expect things to change a whole lot. Seeing as how Clinton Portis has some serious mileage on him, JCE will be expected to do more with his arm. In fantasy terms, JCE is a shaky back-up at best. |
