To say that Matt had a bad season last year is a gigantic understatement. Considering he was sidelined for 9 games last year, it would have been hard for Matt to be anywhere in the vicinity of productive. However, when you take into account the offensive train-wreck the ‘Hawks were last season, it was probably for the best that Matt let Seneca Wallace take the lumps intend for him. It also doesn’t help that your receiving corp consists of Koren Robinson, Deion Branch, Booby Engram and John Carlson (Carlson incidentally was the team’s best receiver last season).
This season should be miles away from last years performance as the Seahawks start anew, away from injury and away from mediocrity. IN the first place, prized free-agent T.J. Houshmandzadeh adds some desperately need speed and long-range threat Hasselbeck hasn’t enjoyed since Darrell Jackson blew out of town in 2006. Secondly, Nate Burleson is healthy and ready to be an effective slot-receiver for the Seahawks this season. Also, the surprise emergence of John Carlson has had some time to flourish since last season’s entrance into the Pros. The biggest wild card has to be Hasselbeck himself. At age 33 he is no longer a spring chicken and showed it last season battling injury for most the season. If he can stay healthy he will be able to flourish under new head coach Jim Mora’s pass minded system.
