Our Take on Kyle Orton

At first glance, I would say that getting shipped to Denver would be a pretty good deal. It’s even better considering Orton has all but been given the keys to the offense, ending his seemingly endless carousel as a starter in the windy city. However, looks aren’t always as they seem. New coach Greg Daniels has done a poor job fostering good will as a rookie coach, Brandon Marshall is demanding a trade, and the team will be leaning heavily on a rookie running back. All things considered, Orton would probably have been happier in Chicago with Rex Grossman breathing down his neck.
As far as I’m concerned his semi-successful season last year with Chicago means nothing now considering all the adversity he will be facing as the Denver QB. Still, he will have legitimate receiving threats in Marshall (if he stays and is happy), Eddie Royal, veteran Darrell Jackson, and Jabar Gaffney, which is something he never had as a Bear. I’m thinking this first season will be a bumpy one for Orton who doesn’t have enough experience to overcome these obstacles, but he should be able to manage a decent season with the talent around him.
