these charts change as we approach your fantasy
football draft! Don't rely on old information
when your draft comes along.
Every year right before your draft starts some owner likes to brag and tells you about a sleeper pick he has up his sleeve. Of course he doesn't literally tell you the name of the player. That wouldn't be very smart. Nope, instead he makes it well known to everyone that he's got a sleeper and he intends to use him to beat you this season. Then when he feels the time is right he hits you with the sleeper pick. Sometimes it works and sometimes it backfires but none the less that doesn't stop that owner from doing his bragging. How does this involve Jerry Porter? Well the owner I was describing could be talking about Jerry Porter this year.
Jerry Porter was a big bust in Oakland. He never lived up to the hype and for awhile he had problems with the organization. Then again that's seems to be the way Oakland works. They draft talented players and that player underachieves. In this case that player is Jerry Porter. Porter has never had 1,000 yards receiving in a single season.. At 29 he's also not your ideal sleeper so you might think that the guy describing Jerry Porter as a sleeper doesn't know what he's talking about. I say hold on a moment.
Look at the situation Jerry Porter has found himself in. Just last year Randy Moss left Oakland and had a record breaking year in New England. It wasn't that Moss all of a sudden was more talented in New England. It was the situation Moss was in. A good coach and QB will do that. Now Porter won't revitalize his career like Randy Moss did when he left Oakland but he has a chance to be the go to receiver for a team with a good quarterback and running game. I see a lot of upside with Porter. I think a 1,000 yard season is very obtainable especially when defenses will stack the line to stop Fred Taylor and Maurice Jones-Drew. Factor in that David Garrard is the guy throwing him the ball and you could have the makings of a good #2 receiver for you fantasy football team.
