Our Take on Jay Cutler
by Skipster McNernie |
Let me get this out in the open right now: I don’t like Jay Cutler! I think he’s a cry-baby who took advantage of a new coach in Denver and bullied his way out the same way Terrell Owens did in Philly. I felt sorry for Jay when Philip Rivers threw insults at him during the game, but now I see that Rivers just speak-a-da-truth. All personal issues aside, Cutler is a decent quarterback for Chicago – not great, just decent. In Denver, under Shanahan, with guys like Brandon Marshall and Eddie Royal, playing in the thin air, Cutler is a great quarterback. Now that he’s in windy, cold Chicago, I expect his game to take a hit. And, all apologies to Lovie Smith; Smith ain’t no Mike Shanahan. Not to mention that Cutler has a season of looking forward to throwing bombs to Rashied Davis and the Devon Hester experiment.
On the upside, Cutler has one of the most promising pass-catching backs in the league (Matt Forte) and one of the best young TEs coming into his own Greg Olsen – two things he missed in Denver. I’m honestly not real sure how this is going to turn out, but to be on the safe side, we should consider Cutler to be a liability until he proves otherwise.
