It's a shame Johnson plays for the Lions because he should be on television a lot more than he is. He's that fun to watch. I don't think there is a more physically gifted receiver in the league than him. He has a rare combination of size and speed that makes him a matchup problem for any defense in the league. He's so good that he's gives Detroit fans a reason to take their paper bags off of their head and cheer for awhile. He is their hope and probably their only hope, but a good one none the less.
In his rookie year, he was injured and didn't produce like everyone thought he was capable of, but a year ago he was healthy and he produced like a lot of us thought he could. This year he could be even better. His 1,331 yards and 12 touchdowns was just the beginning. In time, Johnson will emerge as the best receiver in the league. I'm just not sure how soon. Detroit will likely play a rookie quarterback this year and that doesn't spell well for receivers. Plus, Johnson is the only player on that team that defenses have to worry about. The spotlight will be on him every single time Detroit's offense is on the field and that's a lot for a young player to deal with. He certainly up to the challenge, but it's also enough of a concern to keep him out of the top three for now.
