Ricky Jean-Francois is a frustrating prospect. He flashes dominance at times (watch the National Championship game 2 seasons ago) but also disappears and is often on the medical report. His grade varies as some see him as a 1st round talent and others think he is a late round prospect. I am in the middle on him, but have been higher on his potential than most. In Round 3 teams will look to find the best talent available to fill a need, and this Tiger has plenty of that. Detroit needs to build their D Line and to me Ricky Jean-Francois is the best DT available.

Donald Washington is one of the most under-rated players in the draft. The 6’1, 195 lbs Buckeye was a real nice contributor to his team and I think his best football is in front of him. He has nice measurables and when you watch him play he stacks up pretty well against the competition. The Rams are absolutely sorry at CB as Tye Hill is looking more and more like a bust. Washington could compete for minutes and add some real necessary depth for the Rams.

Byrd is one of my sleeper WR’s. His talent warrants 2nd to 3rd round consideration, and I think he is the type of WR whose best football is still in front of him. The Junior from Baton Rouge was never really properly utilized at LSU and his combination of size (6’1) and speed (4.4) will be awfully enticing for a team with a need for depth at WR. Maybe more of a developmental guy (like Craig Davis a couple of years back); Byrd has the type of potential that scouts fall in love with. The Chiefs have a huge need at WR opposite former team mate Dwayne Bowe. Hopefully Byrd’s auto accident wont hurt his draft stock.

Shonn Greene has had a bad pre-Draft and many question his speed and ability. However, I think Greene has nice value here in Round 3 as his tape lends itself well to a game speed versus time speed. He isn’t a burner but definitely runs with authority. Case in point he played very well for an Iowa team that could not throw the football, showing his ability to convert yardage into first downs. With veterans Julius Jones and TJ Duckett in the mix the Seahawks could afford to add some young legs into the rotation.

The Cowboys looked real bad at times at OT last year. I know they have Marc Colombo and Flozell Adams in the fold, but they are both getting up their in years and may have already played their best football. I do hear a lot about their younger guys like Doug Free, but I haven’t seen enough of him to think he can start at the NFL level. Kropog is a guy from Tulane who gets overlooked because he played for a small school. He is fairly athletic and is a natural in Pass Pro. He has a good frame, nice feet and plays with real good technique. Because of his natural knee bend and feet he could potentially play L OT, which is a plus for Dallas. He does need to get a little stronger, having only completed 21 reps of 225 lbs at Indy, but he does have nice potential.

There is no way that Paul Kruger, talent wise, is a low 2nd round pick. What hurts Kruger is that he is too much of an “in-between” guy for me. He is a great DE for the College game (had an amazing year for Utah) but is too undersized to play that position in the Pro’s. He could line up in the 3-4, but I don’t know if he has enough speed or lateral quickness to flourish at that spot and I see him as a situational pass rusher in a 4-3. The Bengals are not very good at sacking the QB and Kruger could become a nice 3rd down rusher.
  71. -
The Raiders have helped themselves a little in Free Agency at OT, but they cannot believe that Cornell Green is the answer at OT. I know they have confidence in Mario Henderson but they still have many questions surrounding the depth at this position. Cadogan is intriguing and is a nice player with a great frame and long arms. He has some upside and will need some work, but his talent is good.
  72. -
Duke Robinson is the consensus #1 OG in this draft. He is a powerful mauler who at 6’5, 330 lbs has great size for the NFL. He is strong, and plays with a nasty streak and has shown throughout his career that he can be very good against top competition. Robinson’s stock has fallen as he was a bit inconsistent this past year, but he presents a huge upgrade for the poor interior of Jacksonville’s O Line. Once considered a potential first rounder, Robinson has nice value here and can be a player that starts on Opening Day.
  73. -
The Packers will need to add some players capable of playing the 3-4 OLB especially if Brady Poppinga struggles with the position change. Cody Brown is a highly athletic OLB whose best fit is definitely as a rush 3-4 OLB/DE tweener. He has nice value here in round 3 as pass rush specialists always go higher than most think they should.
  74. -
The Niners have some depth needs at CB and also some big needs at Free Safety. Jairus Byrd flies under the radar, but he really shouldn’t as he was a very productive college player. He has good (not great) size and speed and also comes from good blood lines, as his father was a former Pro Bowler for the San Diego Chargers. His versatility at either Safety or CB helps his cause for the Niners.
  75. -
Jonathan Luigs is a fine prospect who deserves 3rd round attention. He was the Remington winner as the best Center his Junior year and is very smart and athletic. By far the best Pivot available and a nice value here in this deep class of Centers. The Bills have a defined need at C as they are not retaining the services of Melvin Fowler.
  76. -
There are signs of RB concerns for Mean Green. Thomas Jones wants a new deal, and likely won’t get it because the Jets are hurting cap wise. Leon Washington also is up for a new deal next year and although they should probably re-sign him, he is not an every down back. Andre Brown is a big RB who uses power as his weapon of choice. His value here is good after his impressive Combine and I can see him being a nice compliment to Washington and the ultimate replacement for Jones.
  77. -
Marcus Freeman is actually a bit under-rated as he has always been playing in the shadow of James Laurinitus. Freeman is fast, strong and can play well in coverage. A true Will LB, Freeman could compete early with Cato June and Xavier Adibi for a starting spot.
  78. -
Igor Olshansky bolted to Dallas and there are some depth concerns at their 3-4 DE spot. Kyle Moore is a strong DE, but is not to be confused as a Pass Rush specialist. He was what the Bolts would want in that he will hold his spot on the line of scrimmage and be solid against the run. My best DE left on the board, Moore has decent value here and can mix into the rotation.
  79. -
The Broncos don’t have a lot of big bodies for their 3-4 scheme. At 6 ft and 315 lbs Taylor impressed me with his strength. A fairly versatile player I can see him trimming down and playing the 5 technique or bulking up and playing a little Nose Tackle. I like him a lot as a football player and thinks he adds some valuable depth to the Bronco Defensive Line.
  80. -
Offensive Tackle is a major area of need for the Skins and I flirted with giving them Michael Oher in Round 1. Chris Samuels is solid on the Left side, but Stephen Heyer and Jon Jansen leave much to be desired. Fulton is my best OT left on the board.
  81. -
The Buccaneers have some depth and age issues at WR. Michael Clayton is often underwhelming and Antonio Bryant was franchised and will likely look for a big deal next year if he produces. WR Louis Murphy is highly under-rated, he is over 6 ft tall and posted solid 40 times at Indy. At the tail end of Round 3 Murphy has real nice value.
  82. -
Cornelius Ingram was my top rated TE before he tore ACL in 7-on-7 drills this past summer. He is fast for his 6’4, 250 lbs size and has terrific hands. A flat out great athlete, Ingram is a true Pass Catcher with great hands and body control. Don’t get him confused with a guy who will block, as he isn’t that type of player. There aren’t a lot of weapons outside of Calvin Johnson in the receiving game for Detroit and a pass catching TE could become a real nice addition for the developing Matt Stafford.
  83. -
The depth at CB in Green Bay is not very strong, and in Round 3 I could see the Pack looking to shore up that position while there is still good value on the board. Francies is a nice player out of San Jose St who has tremendous value in Round 3. He has nice size at 6’, 185 lbs and also has some upside as he is fast and physical. He is highly athletic and could fill in at Nickel.
  84. -
Antoine Caldwell is a real nice player from Alabama who did well for himself his Senior year as the pivot of the Crimson Tide Offense. I like him a lot and think he offers some versatility at OG as well. A definite upgrade for the interior of Denver’s O Line and a nice value here, as this year’s crop of Center’s is pretty deep
  85. -
Brian Dawkins is gone and depth and talent is needed at Safety for the Eagles. The combination of Quentin Demps and Sean Jones is OK, but the depth behind them is a cause for concern. Chip Vaughn is a Strong Safety prospect who doesn’t have great speed or ball skills, but can absolutely bang in the box. Maybe a bit one dimensional, Vaughn offers run support at Safety and has the skill set to be a potential starter if utilized properly.
  86. -
The Vikings don’t have many weapons to throw the ball to at TE as Vishante Shiancoe is not a big receiving threat. A shaky QB’s best friend is a pass catching TE, as they are often the safety valve when their primary targets are not available. Casey is a real nice athlete who is also a very good baseball player. Although a DT or a CB seem like higher needs for Minnesota here, I cant help but put Casey here as I am sure the TE position will be utilized to get either Sage Rosenfels or Tavaris Jackson another weapon.
  87. -
Chris Baker is one of the only true Nose Tackle prospects in this draft. From Hampton, Baker possesses the size (6’2, 330 lbs) that is necessary to play the Nose. He will likely be drafted higher than he should based upon his scheme niche and the lack of massive NT’s this year. Miami needs depth at this position sorely.
  88. -
Victor ‘Macho’ Harris is a well rounded CB from Virginia Tech, a school that does a good job of producing NFL Defensive players. Macho Harris won’t wow you with his timed speed or size, but he is a highly productive football player. He reminds me a little of Brandon Flowers (another Hokie) as he looks better on tape then he does in shorts. Baltimore has done a good job at grabbing some veterans at CB, but you can never have too much quality depth at that position.
  89. -
Jasper Brinkley is a real good looking football player. A very athletic and strong LB, Brinkley who can lay lumber. He really isn’t suited to be a 4-3 ILB, but in the 304 he has some real intrigue. New England needs to think about grooming a replacement for Tedy Bruschi opposite Jerod Mayo.
  90. -
The best DT available is Vance Walker and that is enough to have me making this selection for Atlanta. The DT rotation in Atlanta needs some major help and Walker is a nice player who can add depth to the rotation.
  91. -
Kevin Boss has been more than just serviceable for the G Men, but I would think they would like to add some security and another pass catching TE. Travis Beckum is a nice player who has decent hands, runs nice routes and has good speed.
  92. -
CB depth is a bit of a concern for Indianapolis. Mike Mickens is a nice player hailing from Cincinnati with good size and decent speed. He isn’t a burner but he has a good football IQ and is a good athlete. He was highly productive in college and I think would ad some nice depth for Indy’s secondary.
  93. -
The Panthers need to grab a DE or CB here, but the value absolutely sucks so I have them making a compromise and grabbing a highly under-rated player in Chase Coffman. Truly, Coffman is an ideal TE for Carolina. He is sure handed, runs good routes and can make plays. He presents an opportunity for the Panthers as a Pass catching TE and I think he is better than both Jeff King and Dante Rosario.
  94. -
Brandon Tate falls on my board because he flunked his drug test, and unlike Percy Harvin he isn’t as highly touted and cant get away with something like that. Tennessee hasn’t hit many home runs drafting WR’s but I think they could take Tate because he has great upside and hasn’t played to his talent level yet. He is a good height/speed guy and has nice value in Round 3. Definitely a project though.
  95. -
*THIS PICK IS REALLY DAVID VEIKUNE, DE/OLB FROM HAWAII* David Veikune is one of the last 3-4 tweeners left that I think has a solid chance of playing for an NFL team. He has nice size, is tough and also plays with a great motor. He doesn’t have a true position as he may be a little too slow or a 3-4 OLB, but I think that is his best projection. Arizona needs to add more versatile type DE’s if they want to transition to a 3-4.
  96. -
Massaquoi is a nice prospect who has nice value in Round 3. He has long arms and has terrific ball skills. He is a tough player who is not afraid to play in traffic. Nate Washington left and time will only tell if Limas Sweed is ready to take on a full time starting role. Depth is needed and Massaquoi would be a good fit for Pittsburgh. COMPENSATORY SELECTIONS: (97) New England – Mike Wallace, WR Speed kills and Mike Wallace showed everyone at Indy that he is a blazer. New England has Moss and Welker, but a game breaker like Wallace will be hard to pass at this spot. As an added bonus he can return kicks. His speed puts him here. (98) Cincinnati – Mike Goodson, RB The Bengals cannot be serious about starting 2009 with Cedric Benson as their RB. I like Mike Goodson from Texas A&M. He didn’t test super well, but on tape he is a shifty runner who makes plays and is a compliment to Benson. (99) Chicago – Darcel McBath, S Chicago would like to add some depth at Safety where there are still questions about Thomas DeCoud. Darcel McBath is a nice player from Texas Tech who is highly athletic and good against the Pass. Not the best run stuffer, but a nice value in the end of Round 3. (100) NY Giants – Cedric Peerman, RB Peerman opened eyes at the Combine with his nice 40 time and testing. New York likes to deploy multiple RB’s and with Derrick Ward no longer with the team I can see them grabbing Peerman here. He isn’t a game breaker but worth of consideration here.
