| Picks updated 4/21/09
They could go the safe way and pick Jason Smith (This years version of Jake Long). There has been recent talk of Aaron Curry. I don't think that going to satisfy the fan base, and this could be a lot of contract posturing. With a new regime coming in I think they will make the sexy pick. Stafford has all the tools. As much as most analysts most analysts think next year will be a better draft year for QB's, I think Stafford is a better prospect than anyone coming out next year, even Sam Bradford. Current Lions QB's are Daunte Culpepper, former 2nd round pick Drew Stanton (shown nothing yet) and journeyman Drew Henson. It's about time the Lions find a replacement for Bobby Layne. I wonder how many of you guys remember Bobby Layne?? 4/22 UPDATE As predicted long ago, this looks like a done deal!!!

| Even though Steve Spagnuolo is a defense guy, Smith is too good to pass up here. Relatively unknown in college his combine numbers, especially bench press, far surpassed the other top offensive line prospects. Originally enrolled at Baylor as a Tight End. Orlando Pace has been released and the whole line needs upgrading. The Rams have no legit starting Left Tackle on their roster, Smith will be an instant starter. They would have taken Jake Long last year if he was available! He is considered to be the safest pick in the draft, and the Lions are still considering him. If they pass this pick should be a lock.

| Chiefs have a respectable offense, even with current QB's. Their defense is abysmal, Glenn Dorsey versus the world. Have to go D, Curry is without a doubt the best linebacker in the draft. Their first 3 picks should be defense. I don't believe the UFA signing of Monty Beisel from Arizona is going to make any difference in their pick. He's gone to Seattle for private workouts, but I doubt they'll have the chance to pick him.

| Solid guy who was a longtime starter at Virginia, excels against the run and consistently played his top games against the better lineman he faced. Signing T.J. Whoseyourmama will take them away from my original thought of Crabtree. Walter Jones won't be there forever (he is 35), coming off Microfracture surgery and Monroe is talented enough to play either side. He should start as a bookend to Jones at RT and move to the left side when Jones is finished. Not much of a difference between him and Jason Smith, but he should be picked after Smith because of some past knee issues.

| The latest reports are that the Browns love Orakpo. Super all around athlete, the Browns are looking at him as a 3-4 linebacker. Eric Mangini made a similar pick with Vernon Gholston last year when he was with the Jets. Orakpo worked out privately for the Browns on March 18th. He looked very intense during his pro day. The Browns only had 17 sacks (pathetic) last year and are desperate to upgrade their pass rush! The Browns may also consider Crabtree if they trade Braylon Edwards.

| Great story emerged from a broken family at one time homeless, to a top prospect. He was ranked by NFL draft scout as the #1 pick six month ago. His stock has slipped a bit since, but he will be a top tackle in the NFL. The Bengals do need revamping in the OL.

| The jelly roll would have been a top five pick if he wouldn't have ate his local Krispy Kreme franchise out of business after the Crimson Tides season ended. Admitted to being too out of shape to work out at the combine, went awol, and showed the physique of fatso the clown at his pro day. Still he plays pretty good football when he's on the field and not at the all you can eat chinese buffet.

| Even with the surgery for the stress fracture in his foot, this still won't drop Crabtree out of the top 10. He is not the fastest WR out there, but he competes for the ball and scores touchdowns. the Jaguars haven't had a top receiver since Jimmy Smith. They've tried in the first round before without much success(Reggie Williams & Matt Jones). Crabtree would have gone top 5 without the foot trouble and Jacksonville gets a bargain here. i don't think the signing of Torry Holt eliminates this teams need at WR.

| There's no way I can see the Packers passing on Raji if he's there at #9. They are switching to a 3-4 defense and this guy is a prototypical nose tackle. An absolute horse who can't be moved. He may move up as high as #4, looked very good at his pro day. Passed drug tests after it was first reported he had tested positive for marijuana.

| Sanchez did not play in college as much as most prospect and has had left knee issues in the past. Still, he is absolutely the second best QB prospect behind Matt Stafford. You may see a flurry of teams(Broncos) trying to trade up in front of the 49ers to pick him.

| Great first step and excellent speed. Brown is dogged by the lack of success that FSU defensive ends have had in the pros. the Bills need a definite upgrade at the position and like the fact that he is able to play some left end as well as right.

| 20 year old 3 year sophomore. One dimensional pass rusher with a body builder physique. Might not hold up against the run, but teams pay for guys to get to the QB, he had 12 sacks last year. Ran far better on his pro day @ 4.62, while keeping his weight up. He played at PSU at a6'3" 240 4.62 23 benchesbout 230. The Broncos will move him to OLB where they can use a pass rush upgrade.

| Cushing ran well at the combine and has above average intelligence. Very productive in college, some are concerned by the fact that Shawnn Nelson threw him around like a rag doll in the Senior Bowl practices. He is a workout warrior but rumor has it , he spends thousands of dollars per month on supplements and he is maxed out. The Redskins have some sok linebackers, but no one spectacular.

| Texans offense was 3rd in the league, their defense was 22nd. They do have some needs on the offensive side, but they've made it pretty clear that upgrading their defense is their top priority.
He was more impressive than his USC linebacker teammates at the combine and the postseason all star games. He had to wait well into his college career with the Trojans to get his chance to start, he had much talent in front of him. Doesn't do one thing spectacular, but is solid in all facets of the game. Some recent issues about his past facebook pages.

| Son of Wrestling's Joe Laurinatis " The Road Warriors". Solid character guy who was only recruited by two major college programs, now on the verge of being a first round pick. Never tested off the charts at the combine or his pro day, but he will hit you on Sundays. The Chargers like picking linebackers.
